The KLM Supraba is a traditional phinisi built in Tanah Beru, in southern Sulawesi, home of the Bugis shipwrights.
Built entirely of wood, she was designed to offer cruises combining diving, snorkelling and exploration in some of the most beautiful regions of Indonesia.
Supraba's cruises favour a gentle, friendly approach:
small groups, an attentive crew, itineraries designed to explore pristine reefs, spectacular scenery and experience Indonesia in an immersive way.
The boat can be privatised as a charter or host shared cruises depending on availability.
With 6 air-conditioned cabins, all fitted with private bathrooms with hot water, the Supraba welcomes up to 12 guests in a warm and intimate atmosphere.
The woodwork, natural light and thoughtful decor reinforce the feel of a comfortable, elegant traditional sailing vessel.
The common areas are spread across:
– an air-conditioned indoor lounge,
– the main deck, set up for meals and relaxation,
– two large sun decks for fully enjoying time at sea, from sunrise to starlit evenings.
Designed for sea lovers, the Supraba has a functional, well-equipped dive deck to make organising dives easy.
She cruises at a speed of 8 knots, powered by two Mitsubishi engines and a complete set of safety and navigation equipment.
Beyond diving, many activities are on offer:
paddle boards, kayaks, hammocks, deck chairs, water games and fishing gear.
A great way to make the most of anchorages, whether you dive or not.

Safety information:
The Supraba carries all essential safety equipment: life jackets, buoys, fire extinguishers, emergency oxygen and a first aid kit. Navigation relies on GPS, sonar, radio and compass. Two tenders ensure safe transfers to dive sites. Before every dive, a safety briefing is held to ensure supervised, condition-appropriate water entries.
Other activities offered by the centre:
• Snorkelling: accessible to everyone, in calm lagoons and shallow reefs.
• Kayak & paddle: perfect for exploring bays, mangroves and turquoise waters around the boat.
• Tender excursions: trips around the islets, discovering hidden beaches and cruising through spectacular scenery.
• Trekking & viewpoints: depending on the destination, climbing Padar in Komodo, Wayag or Piaynemo in Raja Ampat, or cultural visits to villages in Banda.
• Beaches and relaxation: free time to swim, rest, sunbathe or admire the sunset.

We went on a three night Komodo diving tour. We were only 6 guests on board. The team was magnificent in all aspects- preparing the diving equipment, guiding, excellent food and many smiles. On the down side: The plan they made excluded Komodo island and the pink beach which was disappointing. The ship is not highly maintained (e.g , broken window in our cabin) The ship never uses sails inspite of their photo on the brochure The cruise director was mostly pleasent and accommodating but every so often would speak to the guests as if we were in the army. We were fortunate to be a small group. With more than 6 guests the boat would be too crowded (deck chairs, dining table, diving deck and so on). In summary - nice cruise as long as there are no more than 6-8 guests. However, way over priced. With that said, Komodo itself is a wonderful destination

It was a very pleasant experience traveling in Labuan Bajo with Supraba, the food was delicious, the crew very friendly, the boat a clean, the beds were also clean. Hopefully this year me and my family from the UK can vacation with Supraba again 😊😊

I’m giving 3 stars. The crew was great and genuinely tried their best, but the Supraba simply isn’t suitable for a longer trip with this many people. I go on liveaboards regularly, and this was unfortunately the weakest experience I’ve had so far. The boat is extremely loud while moving, we had several nights without sleep due to engine smoke, and our cabin even leaked during rain. The toilet was only temporarily repaired and kept breaking. A sewage issue in a neighboring cabin caused a strong smell across the entire lower deck. The equipment also didn’t match what was promised — even though I requested smaller sizes for my partner in advance, there were none, so she had to borrow gear from the instructor. Reef hooks were missing as well, even though they were listed. The food was okay.., but for two days there were no soft drinks or alcohol at all. We finished those. Also they never use sails. :( To be fair, they did not charge us anything for the rental dive computer after ours broke, and that’s where the extra star comes from. Overall, the crew was fantastic, but the boat needs major improvements. I would recommend a maximum of 5 days on this boat — we did 12 days, and it’s simply too long for this vessel. Everyone on board felt the same way.

Just finished up our two night trip with the SuprabA crew and i can’t thank them enough for making our trip so incredible. The crew really went above and beyond my expectations. The facilities on the boat are exceptional, beds are super comfy. Snorkeling was beautiful. Food was delicious. We just had so much fun! Thank you again Sonny and team we miss you already and can’t wait to be back soon!!!

I’d been wanting to do a Komodo liveaboard for years and kept putting it off for one reason or another. Finally did it with Supraba Cruises and I’m still thinking about it weeks later, which says a lot. The boat was nicer than I expected. Nothing over the top, but clean, well-kept, comfortable enough that I actually slept really well — which I did not expect on a boat. There’s something weirdly peaceful about falling asleep to the sound of water right outside your cabin. Komodo itself was insane. Waking up anchored right there and just stepping off onto the island felt surreal. The dragons are massive by the way. I knew they were big but seeing one up close is a completely different thing. Our guide was great — relaxed but clearly knew what he was doing. But honestly? The food is what I keep telling people about. I was not prepared for how good the meals were. Fresh seafood every night, proper Indonesian dishes, everything tasted homemade. One evening we had grilled fish on the deck while the sun was going down and I remember thinking this is genuinely one of the best meals I’ve ever had — and it wasn’t even in a restaurant. The crew were lovely too. Not in a scripted hospitality way, just genuinely friendly people who seemed happy to have you on board. Really no complaints. Would do it again without hesitating.
